For some, you could say; wow that is old
celebrating 26 years on this earth, but for me, am choosing to celebrate life,
knowing that with time and persistence you get to see and reflect on a life
lived with purpose. Last months, I was celebrating my 26th birthday. Time is a
gift and you only get it one day, one minute, one second at a time. There
aren’t any re-dos, but rather new opportunities to improve where the worst has
been recorded.
I haven’t really shared too much of my day to
day. It is so different every day really and I feel the Lord is with us. We are
running full throttle (probably more mentally than physically). I have come to
realize after my years being on earth, if I was going to serve with strength
and give all, I need to create something in me, not just a ministry. That is
what is in me in these next few months/years as our almighty moves in us and
alot happening. That means, teaching children sustainable activities, helping
kids wash their clothes, painting their rooms with colors they love, planting
flowers that will greet us each and every day, putting up curtains for beauty
and privacy as well as creating an area to watch our favorite African sunsets.
You can read about what we are dreaming with
God for Children’s Hope Uganda on our blog and website. (We are actually very
far behind on designing and updating the website. We are not sure when it will
get typed up and uploaded).
Basically, we know our almighty is going to
provide our own big and secure house where the kids will stay, enjoy the cold
breeze of Kabale and relax from being destructed by the surrounding shall be
kicked far. With ‘HIM’, we shall he 8-10 acres in Kabale and begin planning and
developing the site for homes and a primary school.
If our goal is to transform a generation in
Uganda, we need to impact the kids with hope, love and purpose from an early
age during their formative years especially with those who spend more time with
the kids than teachers. I see future leaders of Uganda being told every day how
much they matter and how much they can accomplish with their focus on Jesus and
his incredible purpose for their lives. It seems to be a great long term
strategy that will produce the greatest amount of fruit.”
“I think it is time for Children’s Hope Uganda
to purchase 10 acres first and build THE BEST kingdom centered, high standard,
purpose driven and destiny imparting Christian primary school and a home in
Kabale-Uganda with your support.
Village Life
Many of
the children that we are currently working with, live in Kabale where our
ministry offices are located and just in villages around it. Typically, the
houses are constructed of dirt floors, mud walls and corrugated iron roofs. The
primary ethnic group is Bakiga and their most commonly spoken language is
Rukiga.
The villages depend on regional diet
consisting of maize, beans, potatoes, and fruit. Common health problems in this
area include; malaria and AIDS with many adults and youths unemployed. Many
work as subsistence farmers where their earnings are less than 30 dollars per month. This village and
the community at large needs educational materials, qualified teachers, clean
water and income-generating activities to support the growing population in the
area.
Here are some miscellaneous pictures of our
last month! Enjoy our kids who are proud for all your support. Wait for their
stories.
